David is a dedicated teacher. He is passionate about empowering others to play the guitar. In my sessions he has been "in tune " with my basic level of understanding and has taken a lot of time to pitch his sessions at where I am at. Apart from the actual sessions he provides good support in terms of chords and appropriate music pieces to practice. His enthusiasm and input inspires one.

To date I have been through about 4 different teachers each with their own style. After a few years I was still not satisfied and comfortable with my progress and gave up on finding a suitable tutor. Browsing the internet I stumbled upon your ad and decided to give it another go. I guess the love for music changed my mind.
What a difference you have made to my guitar style, understanding and confidence. Your insight and the ease with which you transfer knowledge and instil confidence has taught me more in the past 6 months than I had learnt in the past few years. I now have the confidence and belief that enables me to enjoy my time with my beloved guitar.

Ek het 6 maande lank probeer om kitaar self aan te leer. Bietjie gevorder maar nie naastenby genoeg nie. Ek was bang om lesse te neem, bang ek sal nie kan “commit” as professionele werkende persoon soos dit van my verwag sal word nie, en bang dat ek nie uit die lesse sal kry wat ek wil hê nie. Toe ontdek ek vir David. Van les een af was ek gemaklik. Sy passie vir musiek en die kitaar as instrument steek mens aan. David het ‘n ongelooflike manier om dinge te verduidelik op so ‘n manier dat selfs iemand met min musiek kennis dit kan verstaan. Hy gaan volgens my pas terwyl hy gesonde druk toepas…hy dwing my baie saggies uit my gemak zone en na net 7 lesse, kan ek al dinge doen wat ek nog nooit voorheen kon doen nie. Hy doen baie moeite met elke les en ek stap elke keer na my kar toe, terwyl ek voel dat 1) ek kan nie wag vir die volgende les nie en 2) ek het die ongelooflikste waarde vir geld gekry. Hy is die musiek onderwyser wat ek hoop elke kind en volwassene sal hê.

David is a spectacular guitar teacher. His enthusiasm to teach, his patience and constant encouragement enabled me to learn quickly and to build my confidence over the period we worked together. I never thought I would learn as quickly as I did, both in practical and theoretical terms. David’s lessons are relaxed but professional and his friendly teaching style ensures that you make the most out of your lessons. Furthermore, I always felt that my lessons were well prepared in advance, with the aim to see me progress and push me to improve through building on each previous lesson. It was also great to take away many great songs, which I know all my friends will recognize and enjoy listening to.
Thank you very much for our lessons over the past few months. I really enjoyed learning from you and am grateful for how much you were able to teach me in such a short space of time.

I wanted to learn how to play the guitar just as an added extra – a means of getting my mind off daily stress. I had no choice but to pitch up for my first lesson with David once my husband just got hold of him and booked my first lesson as a gift – a good way to force yourself to start doing something you have been wanting to do! I have since been attending regular guitar sessions with David and am thoroughly enjoying them. He is the kind of teacher who listens to you and puts your needs first. He plans out each lesson – tailor made to what you covered in the previous lesson and where you are heading at your own pace. I would recommend David as a guitar teacher to anyone – beginner or novice. He is the kind of teacher you cannot do without!
